Has South Beach gone Tea Party?

Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Alvarez is out, removed, left the building and gone to join the ranks of the unemployed. This is an ex-mayor.

Miami voters cut his term in half in a special recall election yesterday. His crime? He raised taxes and boosted public sector union pay.

Folks, Alvarez didn’t get the boot in some tinpot Tea Party town in up the Florida panhandle. This is Miami-Dade, where President Obama won 58.1% of the vote in 2008. This is Miami-Dade, home of the super-liberal congresscritter Debbie Wasserman Schultz. This is Miami-Dade, where Democrats outnumber Republicans by almost 50%.

If that’s the public mood in Florida, I can’t wait to see what happens in Wisconsin.
