News From Where the Front Should Have Been

Silflay Hraka found this story from The Australian:

Thousans of Iraqi troops in south-eastern Iraq could be on the point of surrendering to US forces, a US military source said.

He said members of Iraq’s 51st mechanised division and the 11th infantry “appear ready to capitulate”.

If the officers, or even a large minority of them, decided to cut and run, you can bet those two divisions will melt away. Most will surrender to Coalition forces armed with food and shelter. Those with families nearby might instead find their ways home.

In any case, mass surrenders and desertions are the results of that damn lopsided fighting we’re so fond of, and that Will Saletan can’t stomach.
