"This Stupid, Senseless Act..."

Tim Blair reports from Australia, following the Bali blasts:

THREE PLANE LOADS of blast victims have been flown to Royal Darwin Hospital.

Let me repeat that simple setence, this time with added emphasis:

THREE PLANE LOADS of blast victims have been flown to Royal Darwin Hospital.

Perhaps, had Australia been fence-straddling, you could claim that some good came out of this new horror, because it had finally brought Australia along our side. But, no — the good people of Australia have been with us since September 11.

No matter how you slice it, no good can come of barbarism. Not last year, not this weekend, not ever.

I’m sorry, Aussies, that so many of your people had to pay such a price for no good reason. But I’m glad that, like us, this stupid, senseless act won’t cause you to stray from your course.

And I’m sure that many, many millions of people in Indonesia agree.
