On Tuesday night, President Donald Trump championed the case of Andrew Brunson, an American pastor on trial in Turkey under trumped-up charges of espionage. The president’s unfortunate word choice led to Leftists claiming he admitted to being a spy himself.
“Pastor Andrew Brunson, a fine gentleman and Christian leader in the United States, is on trial and being persecuted in Turkey for no reason,” the president tweeted. “They call him a Spy, but I am more a Spy than he is. Hopefully he will be allowed to come home to his beautiful family where he belongs!”

“I am more a Spy than he is.” Cue — or perhaps “trigger” — the Leftists.
MSNBC host Lawrence O’Donnell took the bait. “Finally. The Trump confession. In writing. ‘I am more of a Spy than he is,'” O’Donnell tweeted.

“Donald Trump is a spy. His words,” tweeted Eugene Gu, a healthcare columnist at The Hill whose claim to fame is that he has been blocked by the president on Twitter.

“Are you saying you’re a spy?” asked Red T. Raccoon, a popular Leftist provocateur who claims to be an American veteran.

“I worked on the story of Donald Trump being a Russian spy for over a year and he just…tweeted it out,” screenwriter Zach Heltzel tweeted.

“You just admitted you’re a spy, you f**king idiot!” liberal blogger Bill Palmer, founder of the Palmer Report, chimed in.

Palmer then directly compared the president’s tweet to former President Richard Nixon’s infamous statement, “I am not a crook.”

Former Bill Clinton White House staffer Claude Taylor shared Trump’s tweet with the message, “In which Trump admits to being a spy.”

Perhaps Democrats should lay off the Robert Mueller. The president used the idiom “he’s no more a thief than I am,” a ridiculous comparison meant to emphatically deny a claim. Andrew Brunson is a pastor, serving others and preaching the gospel in Turkey.
Trump decided to say that Brunson is “no more a spy than I am,” because the president of the United States could not possibly be a spy. This statement was in no way a confession, and these pundits know that.
