While some fashion designers have announced — unsolicited — that they will refuse to dress future first lady Melania Trump, fashion designer and icon Carolina Herrera has said she would be honored to do so. These lefties have such a selective understanding of freedom of association.

Speaking from the red carpet where she was honored at the Women’s Leadership Council, Herrera was asked if she would dress Mrs. Trump.

“Of course I will, as the first lady of this country I will. Of course,” said Herrera.

“It is an honor to dress the first ladies of the country and it’s something to do for the United States. It’s not for myself. It’s for the public.”

Some big names in the fashion industry like Sophie Theallet and Tom Ford, who both outfitted Michelle Obama, were vocal they would not do the same for Melania Trump.

Herrera is one of the biggest names in fashion. She was honored by the WLC for 35 years in the industry. Diana Ross sang a “mini-concert” in Herrera’s honor and she was praised by liberals Emmy Rossum and “comedian” Seth Meyers.

“She persuaded me to embrace increasingly bolder and brighter prints,” Rossum said. “She dared me to stand out.”

“I knew without question that only she could make the wedding dress of my dreams, and she has approached that task with the same care, elegance and enthusiasm that only she can,” Rossum said. “I couldn’t be more honored at the thought of wearing her dress on my big day.”

Meyers, best known for his unfunny “news reports” on Saturday Night Live, also praised Herrera.

“I cannot tell you how much it meant to me and how in awe I was when my wife walked down the aisle after she had been lying on that gurney, on those fluids, and it was all such a credit to this Carolina Herrera wedding gown she was wearing,” he said. “She was completely transformed.”

You are a class act, Ms. Herrera.
