Not So Funny Anymore: Yesteryear's Parody Has Become Today's Reality

Check out this Fox News parody from seven years ago in which a pair of fake news anchors scratch their heads over the link tying together perpetrators of a terror attack. After listing off the terror suspects’ Arabic-sounding names, they wonder aloud, “What common denominator motivated this seemingly random group of young men?”

The studio audience gets the joke immediately, reacting with laughter as the pair brings on a third commentator, a terrorism expert similarly befuddled by the motive behind recent terror. “It’s tempting to try and concoct these conspiracy theories to explain these incidents, but most of those just don’t hold water.”

It was a joke seven years ago. Today, it could be a teleprompter script for a White House press briefing.
