Ted Cruz: 'The Overwhelming Majority of Violent Criminals Are Democrats'

In an interview with radio talk show host Hugh Hewitt on Monday, GOP presidential hopeful Senator Ted Cruz dropped an inconvenient truthbomb on the left’s current narrative about how the “hateful rhetoric” of “abortion foes” caused a lunatic to shoot up a Planned Parenthood in Colorado.

“Now listen, here’s the simple and undeniable fact,” said Cruz. “The overwhelming majority of violent criminals are Democrats. The media doesn’t report that.”

The junior senator from Texas began the interview by noting that the effort of the left to transform the shooting into their pro-abortion propaganda was “as transparent as it is despicable.”

After pointing out that the media has been erroneously describing the Planned Parenthood undercover videos as “debunked,” Hewitt declared that “there’s obviously a concerted effort, it’s an Orwellian effort, to delegitimize criticism of Planned Parenthood.”

Ted Cruz suggested that journalists ask Democrats “whether they believe the inflamed rhetoric of Black Lives Matter has contributed to the targeting and murder of police officers.”

And one of these seems to be clear. You want to talk about inflamed rhetoric, Black Lives Matter has been caught, their protesters on film, chanting “pigs in a blanket, fry ‘em like bacon.” Now that is hateful rhetoric, and I don’t see any reporters asking Hillary Clinton when she meets with Black Lives Matter whether she agrees with those sentiments that we should be murdering police officers.

Hewitt claimed that he had attended pro-life events for 25 years, and had not once met a single pro-life activist who was in favor of any sort of violence.

“This whole episode has really displayed the ugly underbelly of the media,” Cruz said in agreement.

Then he dropped the truthbomb:

You know, every time you have some sort of violent crime or mass killing, you can almost see the media salivating, hoping, hoping desperately that the murderer happens to be a Republican so they can use it to try to paint their political enemies.

Now listen, here’s the simple and undeniable fact. The overwhelming majority of violent criminals are Democrats. The media doesn’t report that. What they report, and there’s a reason why the Democrats for years have been viewed as soft on crime, because they go in and they appoint to the bench judges who release violent criminals. They go in, and they do what Barack Obama tried to do, which is appoint a lawyer voluntarily represented for free, a cop killer, to a senior Justice Department position. They go in and fight to give the right to vote to convicted felons. Why? Because the Democrats know convicted felons tend to vote Democrat. And so the media never reports on any of that, doesn’t want to admit any of that, but you can see in every one of these, every time there’s a terrible crime, they’re so excited, come on, please, one of these be a Republican so we can try to paint the other side. It is one of the more egregious examples of media bias, and it’s something we see over and over and over again.

For the past several years,  members of the institutional left have used mass-shooting incidents as opportunities to demagogue about guns and demonize their political opponents. The first glaring example of this occurred in January of 2011, after psychopath Jared Lee Loughner opened fire on a crowd of people attending a political meeting at a Safeway parking lot in Tucson, Arizona. Democrat Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords was shot in the head, but survived her wounds.

The left immediately  blamed “hateful rhetoric” on the right for the rampage — specifically Sarah Palin’s rhetoric, because she had posted a map of Democrat congressional districts with “cross-hairs” over them, denoting that she wanted to see them flip to Republicans. There was nothing exceptional or objectionable about the map, but the left, and to a large degree the mainstream media, pushed the disgraceful narrative as far as it could go, despite the fact that Loughner was a lunatic with left-wing leanings who probably didn’t even know who Sarah Palin is.

Now it has become standard operating procedure for the left to demagogue guns, and demonize the right every time something awful happens that isn’t an obvious example of Islamic terrorism.

It was shocking the first time it happened. Sadly, it is now so expected that no one bats an eyelash when, nearly five years after the Tucson shooting, the governor of Colorado, CBS, NBC, and ABC  blame right-wing “inflammatory rhetoric” for the Planned Parenthood shooting.

This is part and parcel of the left’s ongoing efforts to chill speech they disagree with.  And it must be strongly resisted and objected to.
