Former President George H.W. Bush is still in the hospital today after being admitted Tuesday for shortness of breath.

“President Bush had another terrific day and is in great spirits. He was visited by Mrs. Bush as well as his son Neil and daughter-in-law Maria Bush, and has received well wishes from family, friends and fellow citizens,” Bush spokesman Jim McGrath said in a statement Thursday. “He asked that his sincere wishes for a very Merry Christmas be extended to one and all.”

The 90-year-0ld went skydiving for his birthday this summer, but spent nearly two months at Houston Methodist Hospital last year for bronchitis issues.

“The president has been made aware that President Bush was admitted to the hospital,” White House spokesman Eric Schultz said Tuesday. “President Obama and the First Lady send their good wishes to the former president and the entire Bush family during this holiday season.”

No word on whether Obama will show solidarity with his predecessor by ordering his own extremely colorful socks.
