MoveOn.org to Spend $1 Million to Draft Elizabeth Warren for 2016

Here we go.

MoveOn.org is urging Sen. Elizabeth Warren to enter the presidential race.

The liberal group plans to spend $1 million a campaign to push the Massachusetts Democrat to run in the 2016 election, according to a report Tuesday in The New York Times.

MoveOn.org’s director, Ilya Sheyman, told the Times that the draft-Warren campaign would involve opening offices in Iowa and New Hampshire and starting a “Run Warren Run” website where backers can sign a petition urging her to jump into the race for the White House.

“We want to demonstrate to Senator Warren that there’s a groundswell of grass-roots energy nationally and in key states and to demonstrate there’s a path for her,” Sheyman said. “Voters are looking for bold solutions about how you fix a rigged system in which middle- and working-class families are falling behind.”

This must have the folks at Team Hillary hitting the antacids early today. They may lull themselves to sleep every night reading press stories about Mrs. Clinton’s inevitability, but they’re often awakened by nightmares of Sen. Warren saying, “I announce my candidacy…”

One thing that isn’t often mentioned lately is how far left the party has moved just since the last time Hillary ran for president. The progressives constantly complain that it hasn’t gone far enough, but their version of that really doesn’t include silly things like presidential elections. Still, the Obama years have helped push the norm for the Democrats toward the progressive fringe and Mrs. Clinton is still over in the 1990s.

Elizabeth Warren is the dream of the class-warfare and civil-unrest crowd, like people who protest for higher wages or lie down in streets to stop traffic.

Let’s see how adamant she is about not running once some money starts pooling behind her.
