Congressional Hispanic Caucus Gives Obama a 'B+' on Immigration

Sí, se puede, and stuff.

The incoming chairwoman of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus thinks that President Barack Obama deserves a good grade on immigration — but not an excellent one.

Rep. Linda Sanchez (D-Calif.), who will lead the group of Latino lawmakers next year, said she would give Obama a B+ for how he has handled immigration during his six years in office.

“There are areas in which we obviously would have liked to see more done on immigration,” Sanchez said in an interview for C-SPAN’s “Newsmakers” that airs Sunday. “Clearly, the president is limited by certain legal precedents, but we think overall he’s been very receptive on that issue.”

Those pesky “certain legal precedents” are always getting in the way of illegal immigration, aren’t they? It’s also worth asking what his grade would be had he not overstepped his authority by leaps and bounds last month with the plan he spent years telling people he couldn’t do.

A sound goal for the new Republican majority would be to make sure his grades tank for the remainder of his term.
