Iran Says Obama and Kerry Are Lying About the Nuclear Deal

The Washington Free Beacon reports. I have no idea whom to believe.

Iran and Western nations including the United States came to an agreement on the framework for an interim deal late Saturday night in Geneva. The deal has yet to be implemented

The White House released a multi-page fact sheet containing details of the draft agreement shortly after the deal was announced.

However, Iranian foreign ministry official on Tuesday rejected the White House’s version of the deal as “invalid” and accused Washington of releasing a factually inaccurate primer that misleads the American public.

“What has been released by the website of the White House as a fact sheet is a one-sided interpretation of the agreed text in Geneva and some of the explanations and words in the sheet contradict the text of the Joint Plan of Action, and this fact sheet has unfortunately been translated and released in the name of the Geneva agreement by certain media, which is not true,” Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marziyeh Afkhamtold the Iranian press on Tuesday.

Afkham and officials said that the White House has “modified” key details of the deal and released their own version of the agreement.

Iran’s right to enrich uranium, the key component in a nuclear weapon, is fully recognized under the draft released by Tehran.

If the U.S. administration was of a hawkish bent, then Iran should pray that it doesn’t alter the deal further. But this administration is not hawkish and was so desperate for a deal that it claimed it had one before Iran had even agreed to anything. Then, the Obama administration trumpeted a deal that’s really more of a deal to make a deal, and the deal to be made isn’t a good one for the United States or for our allies. The Obama administration also has developed a reputation for lying about everything, because it lies about everything, with such a casual air that it’s disturbing.

On the other hand, Iran must know that it has Jean Francois right where they want him. Up to now his chief claims to fame have been smearing American troops, marrying for money and getting himself elected from Massachusetts every time he wants. The deal with Iran would be a legacy-builder for the long-faced former senator who looks like a muppet. The Iranians must know they have Obama where they want him too — weakened after Syria, weakened again after Obamacare, so desperate to deal that Iran could publicly truck a nuke into Tel Aviv at the head of a parade and he would still call for negotiations while blaming Bush.

But on the gripping hand, the Iranians are terrorists who lie all the time, when they’re not honestly threatening to blow up the world.

It’s just possible that incompetence can explain some of this. This is the administration that totally botched Russia, has stupidly stiffed the UK, and is generally populated with idiot ideologues better suited for faculty lounges than edgy international diplomacy. They have their theories, and whatever reality may throw their way, they’re sticking to them.

So incompetence is possible. But lying remains a viable option.
