FLASHBACK: Harry Reid Promised No Nuclear Option 'As Long as I am the Leader' of the Senate

This clear promise dates to September 2008. Today, it has expired, as Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is trying to deploy the “nuclear option” to end all minority filibusters in the Senate.

It’s clear that the Democrats now fear they will lose the Senate in next year’s mid-terms, so Reid et al hope to kill the filibuster and make as many confirmations and political moves as possible ahead of that defeat.
