Filthy Filner Won't Step Down, Runs to Therapy

It must be nice to be able to respond to credible allegations of serious serial misconduct by, essentially, giving yourself some time off.

SAN DIEGO – In a news conference Friday, San Diego Mayor Bob Filner said he plans to take two weeks off for therapy.

“On August 5, I will be entering a counseling clinic to undergo two weeks of intensive therapy,” Filner announced.

As soon as he made that remark, a sound system failure occurred and the mayor was unable to continue. He stood at the podium for a couple of minutes and waited to see if the problem could be resolved.

It could not, so Filner left. He returned a few minutes later and told those in attendance that he would restart his statement.

When the sound came back on, he apologized before trying to bear hug every female reporter in sight.

Alright, I made that last bit up.

But he really did say this, which is just as ridiculous.

Filner said it was “not acceptable for me to explain my conduct as standards for a different generation.”

If it’s not acceptable, why’d you bring it up? Hm?

Pretty much everyone from DNC chair Debbie Wasserman-Schultz to the local Dem Party has figured out that Filner is a filthy albatross around their neck and they want him out of office.

But he isn’t leaving.

He and Anthony Weiner have something in common: Neither one can bear to live without having real power over other people’s lives, even while they’re incapable of running their own.
