Reset: Secretary of State John Kerry Lauds Country that Doesn't Exist

The French-looking former senator, who by the way served in Vietnam, got a little tongue-tied on his first overseas trip as America’s top diplomat.

In an embarrassing slip of the tongue, Mr Kerry last week praised US diplomats working to secure “democratic institutions” in the Central Asian country, which does not exist.

The newly minted diplomat was referring to Kyrgyzstan, a poor, landlocked nation of 5.5 million, which he appeared to confuse with its resource-rich neighbour to the north, Kazakhstan.

So he called it “Kyrzakhstan.” Which doesn’t exist. But hey, we’re in the very best of hands.

If a Republican did this, it would be a lead story for a week.
