Obama, White House Stumble Over Jobs Report

Earlier today, the Obama White House told Americans not to “read too much” into the June jobs report, which revealed that the economy created just 80,000 jobs for the entire month and unemployment remained stuck at 8.2%. But speaking at a campaign event today, President Obama touted the report as a “step in the right direction.”

The anemic jobs report clearly has the administration grasping for a response. Obama even decried electing Mitt Romney as a move that would turn back the clock, which might actually be a good idea if Romney’s policies took the country back to a time when 5% unemployment was the norm.
