Former staff members of Rosie’s show earlier described how they were working in a ‘hell hole’.
The comedienne’s frequent clashes with her staff and publicists of her guests during its brief run have all been laid bare, further damaging her once treasured reputation as Queen of Nice
In perhaps the most vicious critique of The Rosie Show, one told the Daily Beast, ‘It was such a f**king hellhole.’
It has also emerged the 49-year-old would frequently throw tantrums that left he[r] employees quivering in fear.
The insider added that during one taping last autumn, ‘O’Donnell uncontrollably yelled at a publicist backstage because she didn’t like the parameters agreed upon for an interview’.
And while the show had been on the air for less than six months, there were plenty of other run-ins on-set.
Perhaps the feud which best sums up the whole debacle was the way she allegedly treated one of the most experienced directors in television.
The source said she repeatedly clashed with Oprah’s longtime director Joe Terry, humiliated him by scolding him in front of a live audience for using the wrong camera shots.
It has also been claimed she suggested he didn’t know what he was doing.
In addition she fired Winfrey’s stage manager because she felt he was ignoring her and not doing his job properly.
Bizarrely, the former View star was also unhappy her bandleader, Katreese Barnes was unable to play Broadway tunes off-the-cuff on live television.
Frustrated Emmy-winner Barnes told her: ‘I’m not upset that I don’t know Into the Woods by heart. A little heads-up would have been nice.’
To insecure megalomaniacs like Rosie, whatever problem is at hand is never their fault. At least, not until they’re forced by circumstances to insincerely apologize for it. Five minutes later, they’re off on a mad tear again.
