An elaborate plot foiled.
Thirteen Mexicans wearing Marine uniforms were found in a white van with doctored government plates at the Campo checkpoint last Monday, officials confirmed. …
Agents said they noticed the military license plate on the white van had been altered, and followed it to the Campo checkpoint. The U.S. Marine Corps confirmed the license plate was stolen from MCAS Yuma several months ago.
Officials at the border then asked the people inside simple Marine-related questions, which they could not answer.
The van was following a smaller scout vehicle. The illegals reportedly paid $3,800 apiece to be Marines for a day to get into the US.
