Pelosi: government shutdown likely

Democrats continue to ratchet up alarms that a government shutdown is coming.  A few minutes ago Politico reported “A high-ranking aide to House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) told Democratic chiefs of staff that a government shutdown is more likely than not, according to attendees.”

Last Tuesday House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va) told reporters, at which the Tatler was in attendance, “You know, any time that we propose a spending cut, it seems that Chuck Schumer, Dick Durbin, Harry Reid and others scream, ‘shutdown.’ Why is it necessarily that you are only hearing shutdown from one side? We have consistently said it is not our intention to shut down this government. Again, that is political talk, and we ought to get that off the table, and let’s go about the real business of trying to cut spending.”
