The writer must embrace the concepts of public accountability, fair play, social justice, ethics and community engagement.

What happened to the days when an editorial writer was free to express his own opinion without regard to preconceived notion by the newspaper about what those opinions should be.

It’s sad, but the days of editorial freedom are long past.
