Social Justice on the Editorial page

So the St. Louis Post-Dispatch is looking for an editorial writer. According to their online posting, the writer must have a clear, concise style and be able to explain complex issues. In addition:

The writer must embrace the concepts of public accountability, fair play, social justice, ethics and community engagement.

What happened to the days when an editorial writer was free to express his own opinion without regard to preconceived notion by the newspaper about what those opinions should be.

It’s sad, but the days of editorial freedom are long past.
