Texas vs the EPA

When it comes to energy, what happens in Texas doesn’t stay there.  Texas is America’s leading crude oil producer, and refines about a quarter of the oil the nation consumes daily.  Texas is also tops in natural gas and wind energy production.  I’m not saying this to brag, but to warn.  Texas, unique among the states, has its own air quality improvement program, and that program works better than the EPA’s.  But the EPA wants to scuttle that system and impose its own, which will increase energy production costs.  That will raise energy prices and taxes on pretty much everyone, and threatens energy sector jobs at the same time.  Texas, as one might expect of a state that was once a nation, isn’t taking the EPA’s imperial actions lying down.  The next step in the fight is happening today.
