For those wondering how much emotional progress the Democrats have made in the last 16 1/2 months or so, the Democratic National Committee announced on Friday that it is suing the Trump campaign, the Russian government, and WikiLeaks for interfering with the 2016 presidential election.
In this impossible-to-parody age, The Onion’s take was as accurate as any “real” news organization:

President Trump responded via Twitter, naturally:
Just heard the Campaign was sued by the Obstructionist Democrats. This can be good news in that we will now counter for the DNC Server that they refused to give to the FBI, the Debbie Wasserman Schultz Servers and Documents held by the Pakistani mystery man and Clinton Emails.

He seems to say there will be a countersuit involved, but we don’t want to put words into his tweets.
WikiLeaks, on the other hand, was a bit clearer about their intentions:
We're counter suing you for fun — and also because you're lame. "Voters! WikiLeaks took away our right to lie about rigging the primary!" That's some serious one dimensional chess right there.

Techdirt, a site that deals with technology and legal issues, analyzed the suit and reported that the laws cited in the DNC suit generally indicate “pretty weak lawsuits,” adding that some of the claims “are so outrageous that they would effectively make some fairly basic reporting illegal.”
The report then notes the irony of the DNC suing over leaks, “especially given how reliant the DNC now is on leaks being reported on in their effort to bring down the existing president.”
WikiLeaks is raising money for the countersuit and they’re obviously relishing the chance to move forward with it:

WikiLeaks got all of this underway late on Friday, and there has been no response from the DNC so far.
