If you’re looking for something to binge watch right now, I’d like to steer you away from Netflix and suggest that you peruse the Twitter feeds of various media and news organizations. After eight years of staring at “Hope” posters and muttering “He’s soooo dreamy…,” the members of the mainstream media have decided to be critical of the president. Well, the president-elect, anyway.
Donald Trump decided to give the press the slip on his way to a relaxing steak dinner and they were not happy.
Surprisingly, the Associated Press was probably the least ridiculous with its responses:

NBC News, which just spent two years carrying enough water for Hillary Clinton to make the sea levels rise without global warming, was suddenly worried about “transparency.”

The oddest couple of tweets, however, came from CBS News radio correspondent Steven Portnoy, who doesn’t seem to be aware that it isn’t January yet:
The American people *depend* on accurate info re potus whereabouts. Hoping for an appreciation of this, to uphold solemn WH/press tradition.

A tradition that dates back as far as anyone in DC today can remember. Pool was with JFK in Dallas, Reagan in ’81, Bush on 9/11… https://t.co/omlspqmVAG

Yes, the press was with all of those presidents for momentous occasions when they were president.
Obviously, the press is concerned. They just spent a year demonizing the man they have to spend at least the next four covering. They aren’t worried about “tradition” as much as they are pride. The “good puppy” days are over for them and they’re going to have to deal with a new president who isn’t dependent upon them like Obama is. It’s going to be uncomfortable.
Just for them, though.
