Way through the looking glass.
Sir Anthony Hopkins has been cast in “Transformers: The Last Knight.”
“The man, the myth, the legend – help us welcome Sir Anthony Hopkins to the #transformers universe,” the filmmakers tweeted from the “Transformers” Twitter account.
Hopkins won the Oscar for Best Actor for his portrayal of the brilliant serial killer Hannibal Lecter in “Silence of the Lambs.” He was also nominated for his roles in “Nixon,” “Amistad,” and “The Remains of the Day.”
Recently, Hopkins entered the Marvel Cinematic Universe, playing Thor’s father Odin in both “Thor” standalone films. He will reprise the role for the upcoming “Thor: Ragnarok.”
I watch and enjoy these things and wasn’t even aware that there were four of them already. Honestly, when it comes to action flicks, I just get lost in the chases and explosions and don’t need to differentiate much.
As a huge fan of the mindless action genre (Michael Bay doesn’t blow enough stuff up for my taste), it’s pretty cool that an actor of Hopkins’ stature is interested in doing movies like this. He probably doesn’t need the money. I’d like to think he’s doing it because he’s a fan too.
The social media response indicated that not everyone is as happy as I am about this, as you can see on the next page.
Sir Anthony Hopkins has been cast in a #Transformers movie and this is the world we live in and the art we make now.

Anthony Hopkins is trending? … *please don’t be dead, please don’t be dead* … he’s in ‘Transformers 5’? Yikes. It’s worse than I feared.
