Back when Old Joe Biden was president (yes, I’ve heard the rumors that he is still president, but I’ll believe it when I see it), I wrote numerous articles like this one, wondering about the state of his mental health after he said some crazy thing. However, when the Democrats played Brutus to Biden’s Julius Caesar and replaced him with the Candidate of Joy, I thought that the steady stream of articles I had produced about our Great Leader being non compos mentis had come to an end.
I was wrong.
On Sunday evening, a video surfaced of Kamala Harris saying that she would “like another debate, and so I’m hoping that the former vice president will agree to that.” Unfortunately, we have hardly any journalists today, and there was no one among the establishment media’s assembled sycophants who had the wit or the gall to ask her which former vice president she had in mind. Dan Quayle? Al Gore? Mike Pence? Hannibal Hamlin? It’s unlikely that she had in mind Dick Cheney, who has endorsed her, or Old Joe himself, with whom she ostensibly works, but why she would want to trade barbs with one of the other three has-beens (Hamlin is, alas, no longer with us) remains a mystery.

My multitudes of leftist readers will now shake their heads impatiently and insist that it was just a slip of the tongue, that Harris obviously meant “the former president,” and that I’m just making a mountain out of a molehill. The problem is that with both Biden and Harris, there have been so very many such molehills. Old Joe in his halcyon days of pretending to be president would come out with some egregious statement practically every day, and Harris has become famous for her word salads, which are heavy on redundancies and inanities, all delivered as if they were wisdom of tremendous portent.
Why do the Democrats keep on fielding these mediocrities (at best)? The obvious answer is that they’re selected (and Harris certainly was selected after the coup against Biden; no one voted for her) for reasons that don’t involve being able to formulate coherent sentences and have independent thoughts.
Most Americans still have the idea of the nation’s Chief Executive as the one who makes key decisions, presumably with the good of the American people foremost in his mind. Harry Truman had a sign on his desk that said, “The Buck Stops Here.” George W. Bush famously said that he was the nation’s “decider.”
Today, however, the nation is in the hands of a faceless oligarchy of unelected, unaccountable figures who have used Biden and now Harris as a mouthpiece and a likewise unelected and unaccountable bureaucracy that tilts far to the left. Biden and Harris don’t need to be able to speak clearly or enunciate any ideas. They just have to be there so that it looks to the casual observer as if nothing has changed: America has in Old Joe a president the way it has had since 1789, and if Harris is elected, America will still have a president as usual.
Biden and Harris are the first American presidents to be more like Orwell’s Big Brother than like Abraham Lincoln or Teddy Roosevelt or even FDR or JFK. In Orwell’s Oceania, Big Brother was more of a symbol than a reality:

At the apex of the pyramid comes Big Brother. Big Brother is infallible and all-powerful. Every success, every achievement, every victory, every scientific discovery, all knowledge, all wisdom, all happiness, all virtue, are held to issue directly from his leadership and inspiration. Nobody has ever seen Big Brother. He is a face on the hoardings, a voice on the telescreen. We may be reasonably sure that he will never die, and there is already considerable uncertainty as to when he was born. Big Brother is the guise in which the Party chooses to exhibit itself to the world. His function is to act as a focusing point for love, fear, and reverence, emotions which are more easily felt towards an individual than towards an organization.
There it is: Biden and Harris are the guises in which the Democrats choose to exhibit themselves to the world. A woman, a “person of color,” full of “joy” — all that is much more palatable in the minds of the Democrats than the America-Last, open-borders, bug-eating authoritarianism they’re really selling. And so Kamala Harris can say as many stupid or incoherent things as she wants. It just doesn’t matter. What matters is that you pull that lever beside the letter D. There, that wasn’t so hard, was it? Now, your next task is to open your checkbook.
