Don Lemon: Trump 'Is Clearly Trying to Ignite a Civil War in This Country'

One of CNN’s most radical newsmen (and that’s saying something), Don Lemon, said that President Trump “is clearly trying to ignite a civil war in this country.” Lemon added that Trump “has given oxygen to racists.” He also said that, if Trump had said some of the things he has said over the last couple weeks in his newsroom, “he would be escorted out of the building by security.” Remember when igniting a civil war meant something? Remember when John Calhoun rejected the Compromise of 1850? Remember when Abraham Lincoln was elected on the premise of ending slavery throughout the nation? Remember when Fort Sumter was fired upon? Conflating these actions — conflating a war to end slavery — with Trump’s faltering on a denouncement of the Charlottesville marchers is just a bit hyperbolic…
