Scott Pruitt, President Trump’s Environmental Protection Agency chief, said that the president was acting courageously when he removed the U.S. from the Paris climate accord. He said, “It takes tremendous courage, tremendous fortitude, to ignore the noise and stay focused. He’s putting America first.” But is it particularly courageous to do something that the Republican Party has been claiming as a principle for a long time?
