Ashley Kavanaugh, the wife of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, was visibly emotional, choking back tears during her husband’s gripping opening statement on Thursday.
Judge Kavanaugh bit his cheek and struggled to get the words out as he said, “When I accepted the president’s nomination, Ashley and I knew this process would be challenging. We never expected that it would devolve into this. Explaining it to our daughters has been about the worst experience of our lives.”
Ashley could be seen on camera behind her husband struggling to hold it together.
Judge Kavanaugh told the Senate Judiciary Committee at the hearing, “Ashley has been a rock. I thank God every day for Ashley and my family.”

Kavanaugh’s display of raw emotion during his testimony shed light on the emotional toll the sexual assault accusations have caused his family.

Kavanaugh is a hurt, broken, angry man who has been dragged through the mud. Now Democrats are going to spend the next two hours slandering him to his face, with his wife and his parents sitting right behind him.

As a wife and a mother I cannot fathom the hardship and emotions Kavanaugh’s wife and mother are going through during this time.
