NPR Sends Accidental Tweet and It Warms the Hearts of the Internet

Ramona and her cat from NPR tweet.

An accidental tweet by NPR's official Twitter account left many people wondering, "Who IS Ramona? And can we hear more about her?!"

The media organization intended to send a private message but made the mistake of posting it publicly — something that is now incredibly common among users. The tweet read:

Ramona is given new toy: Smiles, examines for 20 seconds, discards.

Ramona gets a hug: Acquiesces momentarily, squirms to be put down.

Ramona sees three cats 30 feet away: Immediately possessed by shrieking, spasmodic joy that continues after cats flee for their lives.

Luckily several users took screenshots of the mistake before the company was able to delete it.

NPR realized its mistake, and @hurryhurryomaha hoped it wouldn't result in someone getting fired:

The best part was how amused everyone was who read the tweet.

And so many also wanted to know more about this mysterious Ramona:

Since the tweet mishap happened shortly after the deadly incident in Las Vegas, many Twitter users were just grateful for the distraction:

Happily, we all got our questions answered when NPR revealed the truth behind the Ramona mystery:

Yes, Ramona does in fact have a cat, but she is not a cat herself. Thank you NPR for the smiles, and for answering our burning questions!
