INSANE 41-Second Video Captures How Drastically Your Organs Shift During Pregnancy

Most anyone would agree that pregnancy is pretty uncomfortable. Even people who have never carried a baby could imagine how tough it can be to lug around a small human being for 40 weeks. We’re all used to hearing the typical complaints: constant heartburn, incessant trips to the bathroom, general achiness (among other things).

The truth of the matter is that there is a lot more going on in the body of a pregnant woman than meets the eye. Sure, her baby bump is cute and pops out just so in the front of her body. But that little baby comes with more baggage than most people pack for a weekend getaway (placenta and amniotic fluid for starters).

As that little nugget grows into a bundle of joy, it can take up a lot of space in a woman’s abdomen. And when it runs out of space, it makes more room. Science Alert recently shared an animated video showing just how a woman’s organs shuffle around when a fetus is developing. Not to give anything away, but there’s a reason for all of that heartburn and the need to pee every five minutes. Hint: the mom’s stomach and bladder (along with her intestines, liver, and everything else) don’t quite hang out where they are usually found.

What is crazy is that those organs have to go back to their original places after the baby is born! That can make for a slightly uncomfortable postpartum experience.
