It’s no secret that football coaches can get pretty passionate during important games. During last weekend’s Georgia State Class AAAAAA Semifinals in Atlanta, Colquitt County High School head coach Rush Propst apparently headbutted one of his players, walking away with a bloody gash that required three stitches.

After the game, Coach Propst remarked about the intensity of the game with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution:
“I’ll tell you what. That was a dad gum intense football game,” Propst said afterward. “That game was not for the weak or the young. That was big boy football right there. You saw a bunch of good football players out on that field tonight.”
The actions by Propst, whose Colquitt County Packers are the defending state champs and will play this coming weekend for another state championship, would only have been witnessed by the few who watch the state playoffs on Georgia Public Television had the clip not gone viral.
The coach is no stranger to controversy. He fathered three children in secret with another woman while still married during his tenure in Hoover, Alabama, an affair ESPN detailed in a 2013 investigative piece. Propst won five state championships in Hoover.
MTV featured Propst on their documentary series Two-A-Days, which also featured future University of Georgia defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt.
