Via NBC News:

U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch has “asked not to be considered” for nomination to the Supreme Court to take the spot formerly occupied by the late Justice Antonin Scalia, the Justice Department said Tuesday.

Administration insiders had concluded more than a week ago that Lynch’s nomination would create an opening for Senate Republicans to demand Justice Department documents on pending investigations, and it was therefore considered a non-starter.

Hmmm…what “pending investigations” are there that might be of interest to the American public?

This was probably something she was none-too-politely urged to say as a face-saving measure when they had to pass over her. Even if not, there’s at least one polarizing figure America doesn’t have to worry about in the mix.

The “Who Will It Be” speculation has calmed down in the last week, lost in the Super Tuesday hoopla, after the Sandoval head-fake. By the way, Obama is brilliant with the head-fakes; I first noticed it when I read his book in 2008.
