Obama Warns Israeli Actions May 'Harden Palestinian Attitudes for Generations'

Former U.S. President Obama expressed his concern that Israel’s blockade of Gaza could “harden Palestinian attitudes for generations,” weaken international support for Israel, and undermine efforts to achieve peace and stability” in the region.

I guess we shouldn’t worry about Israel’s attitudes “hardening for a generation” after pregnant women had their babies cut out of their bellies. children were beheaded, and women were raped. That’s not allowed.

Obama said that Israel has a right to defend itself from “wanton violence.” Hurrah. He also said that “we should also be clear that how Israel prosecutes this fight against Hamas matters. In particular, it matters — as President Biden has repeatedly emphasized — that Israel’s military strategy abides by international law, including those laws that seek to avoid, to every extent possible, the death or suffering of civilian populations.

What cave has this guy been hiding in for the last fortnight? Israel will avoid civilian casualties “to every extent possible” that Hamas allows for. Hiding behind and among civilians and making it national policy that civilians should die instead of Hamas terrorists is not conducive to avoiding civilian deaths.

But whose fault is that, Barry?

The mealy-mouthed, meaningless, and empty platitudes roll off this guy’s tongue in a never-ending stream of treacly sap.

War is always tragic, and even the most carefully planned military operations often put civilians at risk. As President Biden noted during his recent visit to Israel, America itself has at times fallen short of our higher values when engaged in war, and in the aftermath of 9/11, the U.S. government wasn’t interested in heeding the advice of even our allies when it came to the steps we took to protect ourselves against Al Qaeda. Now, after the systematic massacre of Israeli citizens, a massacre that evokes some of the darkest memories of persecution against the Jewish people, it’s understandable that many Israelis have demanded that their government do whatever it takes to root out Hamas and make sure such attacks never happen again.

This is from a guy who murdered more newlyweds than Bluebeard.

Obama acknowledges that in order to get at Hamas, Israel is going to have to go into Gaza City and root them out, street by street. Still, Israel should not ignore the “human cost.” How to take care not to harm civilians while achieving the goal of “making  sure attacks (like those on 10/7) never happen again” is the kind of illogic that governed the Obama administration throughout its eight years.

It’s an either/or scenario. Either you protect civilians or you go after Hamas Hammer and tongs. There’s no “in-between.” There’s no “middle ground.” Obama’s words sure sound pretty but they’re banally stupid and naive.

Obama was the worst foreign policy president in the post-World War II era. His domestic policies were even worse. By “never letting a crisis go to waste,” he condemned the United States to a generation of slow growth, burdensome regulations, and weakness abroad.

I can think of several Americans I would rather get advice on the Israel-Hamas War from. Bugs Bunny leaps immediately to mind. That keen mind that asks penetrating questions (“What’s up, Doc”?) rivals any questions Barack Obama might ask.
