Trump Curse? Break-In Reported at Rep. Cummings' Home in (Safe and Totally Not Crime-Infested) Baltimore

Representative Elijah Cummings’ home was broken into around 3 a.m. last Saturday morning in the 2000 block of Madison Avenue in Baltimore. Reports of the break-in have just hit the local news. The event happened right before a very public spat with President Trump over the crime and poverty in the representative’s backyard.

Never pick a fight with Donald Trump. The universe doesn’t seem to like it. Representative Elijah Cummings, who started an insult contest with the president over the “squalid” conditions of ICE detention centers last week has been at the center of Trump’s tweets alleging that his town is a rat-infested, crime-ridden dump. Perhaps Cummings should have thought about the consequences of the “Trump curse” before starting a fight with the troll-master general. There is a long list of people who tried and failed spectacularly to one-up this president, including, but not limited to Jussie Smollett, Kathy Griffin, Rosie O’Donnell, and Colin Kaepernick, who all suffered professional setbacks after publicly trashing Trump.

The Baltimore Sun reported Cummings’ comments last week:

U.S. Rep. Elijah Cummings ripped into the acting Homeland Security Secretary on Thursday over conditions at facilities holding children suspected of crossing the border illegally, saying “none of us would have our children in that position.” He followed that up with, “We are the United States of America. We are the greatest country in the world,” he added. “We are the ones that can go anywhere in the world and save people, make sure that they have diapers, make sure that they have toothbrushes, make sure that they’re not laying around, defecating in some silver paper.

Cummings’ rant prompted the president to start a Twitter war against him, pointing out, correctly, that Baltimore citizens are the ones living in squalor.

The media, of course, ran to defend Baltimore and called the president racist for pointing out what we can all see with our own eyes. Don’t miss the actual rat that ran into a news report about this very tweet. The Baltimore Sun, in particular, defended against Trump’s tweet vociferously, trying to deny any problems. It’s too bad Twitter users know how to use Google and found that the same paper had highlighted a documentary made about the rats of Baltimore.

And now Cummings’ own house has been broken into. It’s too much. My sides! The Trump Curse is real, y’all.
