Democrats Triggered by Kevin McCarthy Tweets About 'Chinese Coronavirus' Demand Apology

While the public seems to be experiencing mild panic over the coronavirus outbreak, House Democrats are hot and bothered about the “racism” of acknowledging the virus’s origins.

First, when Rep. Paul Gosar announced he would self-quarantine after having contact with the CPAC attendee who tested positive for the coronavirus, the left had a hissy fit because he referred to it as the Wuhan virus… because apparently that’s racist… I guess.

Undeterred by their own stupidity, the left is once again claiming to be outraged over House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy’s Monday tweet where he linked to the CDC and said,  “Everything you need to know about the Chinese coronavirus can be found on one, regularly-updated website.”

The “Chinese coronavirus!” Oh no!

Rep. Grace Meng (D-N.Y.), who is of Taiwanese descent, was apparently chosen to be the ringleader of the faux outrage brigade over the harmless tweet.

“I am shocked and dismayed that the GOP Leader in the House of Representatives has referred to the coronavirus as the ‘Chinese coronavirus,'” Meng wrote in a statement posted to Twitter.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi joined Meng and other Asian-American Democrats in demanding McCarthy apologize. Senator Kamala Harris also followed suit, claiming that “Calling it the ‘Chinese coronavirus’ isn’t just racist, it’s dangerous and incites discrimination against Asian Americans and Asian immigrants.”

Gimme a break.

Democrats have been politicizing the Chinese Wuhan coronavirus outbreak pretty much from the beginning, trying to score as many political points against President Trump as possible. Now they’ve decided to expand their outrage to anyone who dares acknowledge the origins of the virus and calling them racist for doing so. Haven’t we had enough of the Everything-Is-Racist routine already? Getting worked up over this is basically an admission by the left that the coronavirus outbreak isn’t as big a problem as the media is hyping it up to be because otherwise, the left wouldn’t be wasting time being triggered over what the virus is called.

If people want to argue there are more appropriate things to call it, that’s once thing, but to jump on the “That’s racist” bandwagon is just blatant political opportunism at its worst. As David Marcus at The Federalist noted, “Racism is something used against people, not viruses. Nobody is linking some defect in Asian people to the coronavirus. It’s a point of focus because China is a big part of this story.”

Marcus continued, “House Democrats are adding an absurd demand that we all virtue signal during a health crisis. It is little more than a tiresome waste of time.”

I couldn’t agree more. Democrats are just showing that they have no interest in working together to address the outbreak. Everything about the coronavirus pandemic has been seen by the Democrats as a political opportunity to them. They continue to show they care more about the politics of the outbreak than the public’s health.
