Last week, a Washington, D.C., mother claimed her husband, political consultant Tim Mynett, was having an affair with “Squad” member Ilhan Omar, and that Omar allegedly used over $200,000 in campaign funds to illegally fund Mynett’s travel. Mynett denied the affair, but Omar’s husband, Ahmed Hirsi, is done with her now, according to the New York Post.

The congresswoman’s husband, Ahmed Hirsi, the source said, is poised to file for divorce after the revelation in a bombshell court filing that she allegedly had an affair with DC political consultant Tim Mynett.

The Minnesota congresswoman and her husband allegedly separated in March, and Omar asked Hirsi to divorce her around that time because she didn’t want to file the papers — but Hirsi refused, telling her if she wanted a divorce she should do it herself, said the source, who has known both parties for 20 years.

The husband allegedly changed his mind after Tim Mynett’s wife last week filed bombshell divorce papers claiming her spouse was having an affair with the Somali-born US representative — with Hirsi said to be angry he had been made to look the fool by the allegations of an extramarital affair.

Omar was previously married to Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, whom she wed in 2009, allegedly to help him commit immigration fraud. Elmi is rumored to be Omar’s brother, and they only divorced in 2017. According to records, at one point, Omar was living at the same place with both her first husband, Hirsi, and her alleged brother/husband, Elmi, at the same time. The source told The Post, “I’m surprised [Hirsi] hasn’t filed [for divorce] already,” but it seems Hirsi still loved his wife and was reluctant to put their three children through a public divorce. Putting them through the rumors that Omar married her brother, however, wasn’t quite enough to push Hirsi over the edge though.  ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Once the divorce is final, Hirsi should attempt to sell the rights to his story. I’m sure it would make a great sitcom.
