The Morning Briefing: What Happened with the Immigration Raids?

Good Monday morning.

What happened with the immigration raids?

Someone “leaked” that the Immigration and Customs Enforcement would be conducting raids this past weekend to remove criminal aliens from the U.S. The targets are illegal immigrants who have been through the legal system and ordered removed by a court. There was a media and Democrat meltdown because it’s racist to remove criminals from the U.S. and its racist to expect people who are released into the U.S. to respond to court orders and it’s racist to expect people to appear at their asylum hearings.

“These are individuals who have come into this country illegally, had the opportunity to make an asylum claim in front of an immigration judge, and most of them chose not to avail themselves at the opportunity, and didn’t even show up to their first hearing,” ICE Acting Director Matthew Albence said.

Democrats, especially Democrats who are trying to win the nomination for president, were dishing out advice on how to avoid removal and hide from the ICE agents. Amazing. So what happened with the raids?

An official who spoke with The Wall Street Journal confirmed ICE was active Saturday in two New York City neighborhoods — Brooklyn’s Sunset Park and the Manhattan’s Harlem section. Federal immigration authorities were unable to make any arrests, however, they reportedly plan on coming back to those same locations at a later time.

NPR reports there was no sign of any raids. “The ACLU has not heard reports of any raids today,” Ruthie Epstein, the American Civil Liberties Union’s deputy director for immigration policy, told NPR.

Jake Tapper of CNN asked U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services acting Director Ken Cuccinelli if children would be separated from their parents in the raids. Cuccinelli refused to say. “I’m not going to say ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ to anything like that because then certain people out there can write themselves off the list or find a way to play a loophole,“ Cuccinelli said on CNN’s clown show. “And the loopholes in our legal system are what we’ve been screaming to be fixed.” Americans who go to jail for crimes are also separated from their children.

The ongoing catfight between Nancy Pelosi, “THE SQUAD” and President Trump

President Trump continued to exchange words with THE SQUAD over the weekend. I didn’t follow it because I usually avoid the news and social media on weekends because I have a life. THE SQUAD, for those that don’t know, are the four anti-American, intersectional, Jew-hating wrecking ball congressmen: Rashida Tlaib, Ilhan Omar, AOC and Ayana Pressley. Oh and Hillary Clinton woke up from her chardonnay-infused nap to get involved.

All these people are attacking each other on social media and the Pulitzer-winning corporate media breathlessly run with the story. THE SQUAD is a one-hit-wonder saying Trump is a racist fear-monger, Pelosi was forced to side with them against Trump. Trump is clever. Now Pelosi, who is desperate to moderate the nutters to keep the House under Democrat control, gets lumped in with them anyway.

These public bit*h fights just empower THE SQUAD with their intersectional mob, especially when the president told them to go back to their sh!thole countries. I do wonder why someone like Omar, who is an immigrant, is even here since she seems to hate the operating principles of America. The beauty of this soap opera is that Trump is doing a good job of tying these hateful wenches around the necks of the Democrats and they are out of touch with everyone except their twitter mobs. Let’s see how this plays out at the ballot box.

SJWs pounce on Scarlett Johansson for wrongthink

Actress Scarlett Johansson didn’t properly articulate herself according to the SJW rules of talking about gender and now all the virtue-signalers on social media had an opportunity to out “woke” each other and drag Johansson.

“Acting goes through trends,” Johansson said in a recent interview with As If. “You know, as an actor I should be allowed to play any person, or any tree, or any animal because that is my job and the requirements of my job. There are a lot of social lines being drawn now, and a lot of political correctness is being reflected in art.”

Oh no, ma’am. Johansson astutely points out that there should be freedom in art but that freedom is contradicted by the new social justice rules about who is allowed under the PC paradigm to play certain roles. Should a non-trans person be allowed to perform in a non-trans role? This is the dilemma. Will a movie studio back a movie with big bucks if it stars an unknown actor?

Johansson had to clarify her remarks because you aren’t allowed to say acting jobs should be open to everyone. “The question I was answering in my conversation with the contemporary artist, David Salle, was about the confrontation between political correctness and art. I personally feel that, in an ideal world, any actor should be able to play anybody and Art, in all forms, should be immune to political correctness. That is the point I was making, albeit didn’t come across that way.” Nothing is immune to political correctness. Get woke, Scarlett.

Johansson faced similar criticism last year for being cast in a role where she played a trans male. The actress pulled out of the role after the firestorm.
