The Morning Briefing: Yank Schiff's Security Clearance and Much, Much More

Good Friday morning.

Here is what’s out of the president’s agenda today:

  • The president visits Lake Okeechobee and Herbert Hoover Dike in Canal Point, Fla.

Republicans want Schiff out at Intel (HPSCI)

The Republican members of the House Intelligence Committee want Rep. Adam Schiff out. Schiff is the chairman of the powerful committee and he has been parading around the media for two years, squeaking about all the secret information he has seen that we dirty, unwashed dummies have not, and about how his secret information shows that Trump colluded with RUSSIA. Schiff is a punk.

We know from the Barr letter on Mueller’s findings that this is not true. Mueller had infinitely more resources than Schiff and he didn’t manage to confirm Schiff’s hallucinations.

The Special Counsel’s investigation did not find that the Trump campaign or anyone associated with it conspired or coordinated with Russia in its efforts to influence the 2016 U.S. presidential election. As the report states: “[T]he investigation did not establish that members of the Trump Campaign conspired or coordinated with the Russian government in its election interference activities.”

These are the words of Mueller: “did not establish.” Not that the special counsel didn’t find enough, but that it did not establish coordination or conspiracy at all. Nada, nothing, zilch. Which means that Schiff is a liar and he used his position of authority to lie to the public for two years. He should be removed or Trump should yank his clearance.

The #resistance caucus is now clamoring for the release of the entire report. I guarantee you that Mueller has seeded that thing with all kinds of Easter eggs so that the Democrats have little crumbs to obsess over until the next presidential election. But the Mueller report should not be released unless all the documents surrounding this “investigation” are released. All of them. Let’s see what got this party started, shall we?

Chicago State’s Attorney Kim Foxx did not really recuse herself from Smollett case

Foxx claims that she was using the word “recuse” in a colloquial sense not the literal sense. Nuts.

“Instead, in an abundance of caution, she informally separated herself from the decision-making over the case and left it to her First Assistant State’s Attorney Joe Magats, a 29-year veteran prosecutor,” the statement added. “Although we used the term ‘recuse’ as it relates to State’s Attorney Foxx’s involvement in this matter, it was a colloquial use of the term rather than in its legal sense.”

Do you believe this? Foxx recused herself because Michelle Obama’s former chief of staff contacted Foxx on behalf of the Smollett family to move the case over to the feds. Now why would they want to do this? What’s going on with the feds that would make it better for Smollett? Curious.

Chicago is demanding that Smollett pay $130,000 for police overtime following his hate crime hoax.

“[Y]ou made a police report in which you falsely claimed that two men had attacked you while yelling racial and homophobic slurs. The Chicago Police Department conducted an extensive investigation into this report,” a letter stated, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. “Over two dozen detectives and police officers participated in the investigation, ultimately spending weeks investigating the false claims, including a substantial number of overtime hours.”

He has seven days to pay up.

Meanwhile, Smollett has been nominated for an award by the NAACP. Go figure.
