The Morning Briefing: It's Not Worth it and Much, Much More

(AP Photo/Manuel Balce Ceneta)

Good Tuesday morning.

Here is what’s on President Trump’s agenda today:

  • The president is presented with the Boy Scouts’ Report to the Nation
  • President Trump participates in a signing ceremony of S. 47, The John D. Dingell, Jr. Conservation, Management, and Recreation Act

It’s not worth it

Nancy Pelosi isn’t worth it, is she? Yesterday, Speaker of the House Pelosi told the Washington Post that impeaching President Trump was “just not worth it.” Could you just hear the progressive heads explode when she said that? There’s some drama in the Democrat caucus now since the grandstanders can’t hold out impeachment as a carrot to their flock. I wonder how bad the internal polling is if Nancy is coming forward to wipe impeachment off the Democrat menu.

Even House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) pushed back on the crazy-pants crew. “We’ve got 62 new (Democratic) members. Not three.” Oh snap, Steny.

Tom Steyer, a big-time patron of progressivism and the progressive agenda, is not pleased. At all.

“Speaker Pelosi thinks ‘he’s just not worth it?'” Steyer asked in a statement. “Well, is defending our legal system ‘worth it’? Is holding the president accountable for his crimes and cover-ups ‘worth it?’ Is doing what’s right ‘worth it’? Or shall America just stop fighting for our principles and do what’s politically convenient?”

If the Democrats have the high crimes and misdemeanors on Trump, why take impeachment off the table? How many times have we heard how dangerous Trump is? Some of these delusional clowns are out there croaking that RUSSIAN President Putin is controlling Trump. Compulsive liar Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) has said for more than two years that there is proof, proof! that the Trump campaign “colluded” with RUSSIA to win the election. So still, no impeachment Nancy? Unless that was all bluster…

Tucker fights the muckraking archeologists

Big headlines yesterday when the usual lefty suspects patted themselves on the back for digging up some salty, decade-old remarks made on a radio show from Fox News’ Tucker Carlson.

Tucker would not play the game — the “gotcha” game, where he apologizes over and over, and his political enemies beat him up, refusing to give him the sought after absolution, as he begs and pleads. Nope, Tucker (and Fox News) is not having any of it.

“We will never bow to the mob. Ever. No matter what,” he said.

The “Bubba the Love Sponge Show” audio clips are from 2006 to 2011. Media Matters is circulating them now as part of a pressure campaign against Fox’s advertisers.

Without naming the anti-Fox group, Carlson said on Monday night that “they’ve been working hard to kill this show” ever since it premiered in 2016.

When Carlson handed off to Sean Hannity, the two men complained about the scrutiny.

“There is a mob that wants to destroy only Fox,” Hannity said. “We’re going to fight it,” Carlson said.

Why shut down Fox News? If you don’t like it, just don’t watch it. But that’s not enough for the left. Tucker has them nailed.

“The left’s main goal — in case you haven’t noticed — is controlling what you think. In order to do that, they have to control the information that you receive. Google and Facebook and Twitter are fully on board with that. They’re happy to ban unapproved thoughts and they don’t apologize for it,” he pointed out.

Meanwhile, the campaign against Tucker marches on.

After an anonymous host in 2009 mentioned parts of Afghanistan beyond the control of NATO forces, Carlson said the country is “never going to be a civilized country because the people aren’t civilized.” Carlson can be heard saying in a 2006 clip he would vote for a politician expressing Islamophobic views such as the following:

“If you are really heavily into Islam, I really — I’m sorry, I just don’t — I don’t care for you that much,” Carlson said. “And I don’t care what that sounds like, you can call me a racist, you can call me whatever the f— you want.”

Another interview from that year included a host discussing a 40-year-old doctor marrying a 19-year-old “fresh off the boat.” Carlson responded by saying he values certain immigrants over ones who “come over and pick lettuce.”

“People who come to this country ought to have something to offer,” Carlson said. “Be hot, be really smart, you know what I mean?”

Conservatives Strike Back At Media Matters For Tucker Carlson Hit Job

Collusion with a foreign government?

A [low energy] Jeb! super PAC got hit with a massive FEC fine when the agency found the committee took a whole lotta cash money from the Chinese.

The unusually large FEC fines came after the commission found evidence Bush’s super PAC took money from a foreign national, which is prohibited under federal election law. The super PAC, Right to Rise, was fined $390,000 for the violation, while the FEC gave an additional $550,000 fine to American Pacific International Capital, Inc. The company had donated $1.3 million to Bush’s super PAC in the spring of 2015, as Bush was gearing up for a run for president.

I wonder what $1.3 million buys you in political favors, eh?

“Today’s action is a rare and remarkable step by the FEC, and a reminder that safeguarding our elections against foreign interference is in America’s vital national security interests,” said Trevor Potter, president of the Campaign Legal Center, which filed a complaint about the donations in August 2016 to the FEC. “This illegal $1.3 million contribution is unmistakable proof that Citizens United opened the floodgates to foreign money in the U.S., and it is surely the tip of the iceberg.”

I guess the super PAC should have operated as a foundation that promised future benefits once political power is obtained, called it the Low Energy Foundation, and taken their foreign grift that way. It works!

It’s Islamophobic to criticize anti-Semitism

New rule alert: if you criticize anti-Semitic remarks, it’s only because you are Islamophobic.

Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) spoke with the clowns on HBO’s political schlock “The Circus”:

“You know, I’m trying to figure it out. It’s just this past week, I feel, and I know this would be somewhat shocking for some, but I think Islamophobia is very much among the Democratic Party as well as the Republican Party,” Tlaib answered. “And I know that’s hard for people to hear, but there’s only been four members of Congress that are of Muslim faith. Three of them currently serve in this institution. More of us need to get elected, but more of us need to understand as we come into this institution that I have a lot of work to do with my colleagues.”

Meanwhile, Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) thanked Fox News for condemning remarks made by host Jeanine Pirro. Pirro questioned Omar’s allegiance to the constitution since she is Muslim and she wears a hijab.

“Thank you, @FoxNews. No one’s commitment to our constitution should be questioned because of their faith or country of birth,” Omar wrote on Twitter, linking to an article about the conservative network’s statement.

Wild, right? I mean that’s exactly what Omar questioned about Jewish Americans. She questioned our loyalty to the U.S. because of our religion, which is kind of strange since she came here from another country, one on which the U.S. has levied strict travel restrictions for a variety of security reasons.
