WaPo Tries to Wriggle Out of Nick Sandmann Lawsuit

Remember when a Catholic school student from Kentucky went to the Lincoln Memorial and smiled at a Native American man who was banging a drum in his face? Remember when most of the American media thought it was okay to defame that kid because he was wearing a MAGA hat? Remember how his school had to shut down because of all the death threats? And remember when that kid sued the Washington Post for $250 million, which happens to be the amount Jeff Bezos dug out of his couch cushions so he could buy the paper?

Well, the self-appointed guardians of the truth don’t like being held accountable for their actions. Sarah Brookbank, USA Today:

The Washington Post’s legal team has asked for the dismissal of the $250 million lawsuit filed against them by Covington Catholic student Nick Sandmann…

Nick, a 16-year-old Covington Catholic student, was thrust into the national spotlight when videos of him and his classmates interacting with others outside the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C., went viral in January…

In the initial lawsuit filed by Nick’s legal team, his attorneys claim that the Post ignored “basic journalist standards” and published defamatory stories about Nick because it wanted to advance its biased agenda against President Donald Trump.

“Interacting.” That’s quite a climbdown, ain’t it?

They jumped all over this kid because he was a convenient stand-in for Trump. Sandmann became an instant symbol of everything our utterly corrupt journalist class hates about America. Hillary Clinton failed them, and they can’t seem to stop Trump no matter how hard they try, but they can sure destroy a 16-year-old’s life.

All they had to do was look at that evil red baseball cap, and they knew everything they needed to know about him. It was too good to check, so they didn’t. And now they want everybody to forget about it.

I applaud Nick Sandmann for standing up for himself. No matter what happens with this lawsuit, maybe it’ll make those bullies think twice before they attack another child.
