No, You Shouldn't Punch People

For the past few weeks, America has been fascinated by a fake hate crime, an act of violence that didn’t actually happen. We were told we needed to care about it, and even apologize for our complicity in it, right up until the moment our moral, ethical, and intellectual betters were proven completely and utterly wrong. Now, in a turn of events that might’ve seemed bizarre a few short years ago, criticism of that fake act of violence has led to a real act of violence.

Gwendolyn Wu, San Francisco Chronicle:

In a stark video showing what appeared to be an assault, a man was shoved and punched in the face at UC Berkeley this week while advertising for a conservative cause at a table on the main campus plaza, police said Wednesday…

Two men had approached the victim, identified Thursday as Hayden Williams, who had been advertising at a table in the plaza for the conservative group Turning Point USA, and began arguing with him, according to police. The victim started filming the encounter.

One of the men knocked the phone out of his hand, knocked down the table, and then hit the victim several times, authorities said.

See for yourself.

Okay, calling Hayden Williams a “survivor” might be overselling it a bit. But unless he punched somebody before the cameras started rolling, it looks like he’s the victim of an unprovoked attack.

And what was it that enraged the still-unidentified PC Principal lookalike who screamed in his face and punched him? Adam Sabes, Campus Reform:

At the time of the incident, the alleged victim was helping students recruit other conservatives for Turning Point USA behind a table with a sign that read, “hate crime hoaxes hurt real victims,” a reference to the Jussie Smollett case in Chicago.

If you can’t hoax ’em, beat ’em. Literally. I know liberals are hurt and disappointed that they can’t blame their enemies for the fake attack on Smollett, but this guy really took it too far.

He has his fans, though:

There’s a lot of that going around lately:

Speaking as a cuck RINO traitor who probably wanted Hillary to get elected, I oppose political violence against anyone for any reason. That’s the problem with the whole “Punch Nazis” thing. Lefties condone violence against guys who cosplay as Nazis, but eventually, everybody they don’t like becomes a “Nazi.” Now the only qualification is a red baseball cap with an unimaginative slogan* on it. They think if you’re wearing the hat, you deserve to get punched. They think you deserve to have your reputation ruined and your school shut down for smirking at a Native American. They think you deserve to get smeared by association with fake MAGA-heads, in the dumbest hate-crime hoax in the history of the world.

Lefties can’t seem to do anything to stop Trump, so they’re reduced to lashing out at anybody who wears the uniform.

Is anybody else just tired? I’m very, very tired. And 2020 is going to be even worse.
