No, Don't Throw Stuff at Tomi Lahren (Or Anybody Else)

No consumer product in the history of the world is more deceptively named than the “smartphone.” If you have one, you literally have all the information in the world at your fingertips. This marvelous little device gives you a level of personal power unimaginable for most of human history. And what do you do with it? You camp on Twitter all day,* caring about the opinions of people who somehow have even more free time than you do. Or you take selfies and put them on the Internet. Or you take pictures of your restaurant meals for some unknown reason. Or you shoot video of somebody throwing stuff at a political pundit you don’t like. Whatever will get you the most likes and comments. Otherwise, what’s the point of even existing? If a tree falls in the forest and nobody is there to meme it…

Back in my day, if you wanted to film a celebrity getting into an altercation in a restaurant, you had to hire a camera crew to film you asking Sean Penn for an autograph. Now you just hold up your dumb phone.

Ariel Zilber, Daily Mail:

Fox News commentator Tomi Lahren was doused with water by a woman while she was having brunch with her mother in a Minneapolis restaurant on Sunday…

Lahren’s mother also became involved in the verbal confrontation.

Then another man approached Tomi Lahren and started cursing at her.

The man yelled: ‘F*** that b***h!’, ‘F*** that h**!,’ ‘Racist-a** b***h!.’

The spirit of Oscar Wilde is alive and well.

Apparently it was some sort of “hip-hop themed brunch,” and one of the participants has created this “remix” of the audio of the incident.

Anything I say about the quality and spirit of this work would be racist, so I suppose I’ll refrain.

This is just depressing. We already talked about not livestreaming people in the restroom, even if they’re claiming to be something they’re not. There are ways to handle it without organizing a digital mob.

If you can’t handle seeing a pundit you don’t like in a restaurant, how are you even allowed out in public to begin with?

I guess it’s a generational thing rather than a political thing, because even Trump-Hater #1 is against it:

If you don’t like Tomi Lahren, do what I do: Nothing. Leave her alone. Don’t pay attention to her. She has the right to her opinions, however well- or ill-informed they may be. If you’re unwilling or unable to debate her, just ignore her.

You’ll be okay, libs. She can only hurt you if you let her. So don’t let her.

This same thing happened to Kat Timpf last year, except nobody made a hip-hop remix of it. Curtis Sliwa, who is a scumbag, applauded the attack. Don’t be like Curtis Sliwa. Lashing out violently at pretty blondes you disagree with is beneath you. Or at least it should be.

Off the top of my head, I can’t think of any liberal pundits who’ve been attacked like this. I certainly wouldn’t encourage it. Not only is it wrong, but it’ll get you branded as a misogynist. Doing the same thing to Tomi Lahren or Kat Timpf isn’t misogynist, of course, because only liberal women count as women.

*Guilty as charged. I’m not proud of it. But in time, I’m sure they’ll get around to banning me for disagreeing with Democrats.
