As Europe goes to the polls to vote in the EU Parliamentary elections this week and with Nigel Farage’s Brexit Party forecast to gain the most votes in the UK, left-wing activists are acting out in an unprecedented manner.
In a recent tweet, the owner of a beer company in Manchester England urged his customers to hit “fascists” (like Farage and Tommy Robinson) over the head with a brick.
“Note to our customers: Please don’t throw out beer over fascists,” wrote Mike Marcus, the director and founder of the Chorlton Brewing Company. “Hit them over the head with a brick as is traditional.”
In his Twitter profile, Marcus describes himself as “Anti-fascist (any means necessary).”
When one of his followers responded to his tweet, saying it “sickened” her, Marcus doubled down, arguing that his call for violence was “acceptable.”
“The only possible end point of the political path espoused by the far right is genocide,” Marcus tweeted in response. “It happened before and it may happen again. Selective, considered violent action is acceptable if it helps prevent another 12 million murders.”

When asked who decides if a person is “extreme” enough to hit over the head with a brick, Marcus admitted that it was a difficult question because “the politicization of an entire population” is “incremental and gradual.”
A good point. Sorry to answer your question with a question but how does one decide when the politicisation of an entire population to the right reaches dangerous territory? Seeing as it’s incremental and gradual there’s a tendency to acclimatise and not act until its too late.

As more and more people responded negatively to his call for violence, Marcus locked down his personal Twitter account.
UPDATE: After encouraging targeted political violent against Nigel Farage and his supporters, the owner of Chorlton Brewing Company has locked down his Twitter account. https://t.co/3q7BXco5Hy

But the Chorlton Brewing Co. account, where Marcus continues to argue with Twitter users, remains open.
The left-wing brewer’s call for violence against the “fascist” right does not occur in a vacuum. It comes amid increasing attacks on right-wing personalities and the journalists who cover them in the UK and in the U.S.
Right-wing activist and independent candidate for the EU Parliament Tommy Robinson has been repeatedly assaulted by left-wing agitators and Muslim extremists at campaign events as he campaigns throughout the North West region of England.
CRITICAL VIDEO: Militant Islamists are now openly assaulting people at Tommy Robinson campaign events. Masked men can be seen on video throwing stones at women and children without any consequences from the authorities or any repudiation from the media.https://t.co/dyWmqhS6PD

Both Nigel Farage and Robinson have had milkshakes thrown at them in recent days in assaults applauded by left-wing activists.

I’m glad he was arrested. But why was the Muslim extremist who threw a milkshake at a Tommy Robinson not also arrested? https://t.co/dibvKHFkw1

Praising someone for pouring a milkshake on Tommy Robinson is one thing.
But it’s ANOTHER to encourage this sort of behavior again and again. Here’s some tweets about that, so you can see the nuance involved with this whole situation. pic.twitter.com/BYcRoYsMAJ

A left-wing activist “joked” on Twitter that she’d rather see acid thrown on the “fascists.”
A left-wing activst who works for a charity called ‘Happy City’ called for Nigel Farage to be acid attacked before deleting the tweet.
“I’d prefer acid but milkshakes will do for now,” said Ruth Townsley.https://t.co/AeqZyUn88Q

The Happy City charity subsequently issued a statement saying they were investigating the matter.

Meanwhile, in the antifa hot-spot of Portland, Ore., on Monday, an anti-ICE agitator was acquitted of charges that she assaulted a TV news cameraman last summer during the “Abolish ICE” occupation outside the Southwest Portland offices of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Another cameraman who was standing right next to the victim witnessed the assault.
Portland: A jury has acquitted an “abolish ICE” activist who was accused of slamming a wooden pallet gate on a news cameraman & giving him a concussion. Another journalist witnessed assault. The activist was embraced by a crowd of supporters after verdict. https://t.co/liT6xW7bpq https://t.co/yhYoYgQvsU

Oregon Live reported that two medical professionals who examined the cameraman testified that he suffered a concussion.
During more than four hours of testimony, Maynard said he saw James’ hand on the gate just before and after he was struck from behind. He said the impact left him with pain, dizziness, headaches and tenderness around a swollen, bruised area of his head.
A KOIN-6 cameraman, who had been standing next to Maynard, said he saw James intentionally swing the gate into Maynard.
James testified that she had her hand on the gate but she didn’t slam the gate into Maynard. Rather, she let the gate go and it began to close on him on its own, she said.
The prosecution contended that James was familiar with the gate and its ability to swing to a close because she’d been at the camp for days. At the very least James acted “recklessly” in letting it hit the back of Maynard’s head, said prosecutor Kate Molina.
Two medical professionals who examined the cameraman diagnosed him with a concussion and testified for the prosecution. A doctor hired by the defense said Maynard hadn’t suffered a concussion. The prosecution noted that the defense doctor hadn’t examined Maynard.
Defense attorney Karen Mockrin told jurors that both cameramen were “lying.”
James sobbed and embraced a crowd of supporters after the jury verdict was read.
“Those (expletives) tried to pin me,” she said. “Not guilty. Not guilty. Thank you!”
