That Hillary Clinton certainly has chutzpah.
In a blistering op-ed published in The Washington Post Wednesday, she argued that special counsel Robert Mueller’s report “documents a serious crime against the American people” and that President Trump probably broke the law.
The former first lady, who famously had her subpoenaed emails destroyed with BleachBit and her BlackBerry phones smashed with a hammer, suggested that Congress should hold “substantive hearings” to investigate Trump’s alleged attempts to obstruct Mueller’s probe of Russian interference in the 2016 election.
During an interview with Time on Tuesday, Clinton ominously called the Mueller report a “roadmap” to impeachment and said the probe was just the “beginning.”
Said Clinton: “I think there is enough there that any other person who had engaged in those acts would certainly have been indicted, but because of the rule in the Justice Department that you can’t indict a sitting president, the whole matter of obstruction was very directly sent to the Congress.”
The framers exempted a sitting president from ordinary criminal prosecution to protect him from political investigations — precisely like Mueller’s witch hunt that dogged Trump and his associates for nearly two years.
Clinton, on the other hand, skated in 2016 after grossly mishandling classified emails and obstructing the investigation, because her name is “Clinton.”
“Our election was corrupted, our democracy assaulted, our sovereignty and security violated. This is the definitive conclusion of special counsel Robert S. Mueller III’s report. It documents a serious crime against the American people,” Clinton had the nerve to write in The Washington Post.
The audacity. It was her campaign that funded the opposition research that helped launch the Russia hoax. It was her campaign that actually worked with Russians, through Fusion GPS and former British spy Christopher Steele, to create the phony narrative about Trump and his team being Russian agents.
According to authors Jonathan Allen and Amie Parnes in their book Shattered: Inside Hillary Clinton’s Doomed Campaign, within 24 hours of her 2016 loss, Clinton’s senior campaign staff decided to blame the loss on Russian interference and made sure that narrative was parroted by the corrupt, anti-Trump MSM.
Clinton continues to play the victim in all of this.
“My perspective is not just that of a former candidate and target of the Russian plot. I am also a former senator and secretary of state who served during much of [Russian President] Vladimir Putin’s ascent, sat across the table from him and knows firsthand that he seeks to weaken our country,” she wrote in the Post.
Clinton cautioned Congress not to jump too quickly to begin impeachment proceedings without holding public hearings to fill in the gaps in the Mueller report.
Clinton slammed the 1998 impeachment of her husband as “a mistake then” and claimed that if voted on today, it “would be a mistake now,” arguing that the Republican-led House “rushed to judgment” then.
She also urged both Democrats and Republicans to put aside party affiliations to come to a fair decision. “We have to remember that this is bigger than politics.”
She continued: “Whether they like it or not, Republicans in Congress share the constitutional responsibility to protect the country … It’s up to members of both parties to see where that road map leads — to the eventual filing of articles of impeachment, or not. Either way, the nation’s interests will be best served by putting party and political considerations aside and being deliberate, fair and fearless.”
Whatever. If she had any shame or decency, she wouldn’t show her face in public and would be begging for Trump’s forgiveness.
As Michael Goodwin wrote in the New York Post last month, “she should be shunned in public life. She has no credibility to speak on any issue or endorse any candidate. She has put the nation through hell all because she lost an election she should have won.”
Clearly, Clinton has no intention of leaving the public stage. Her strategy now that the #RussiaGate boomerang effect is in play appears to be to go on the offensive. The best defense is a good offense, as they say.
The Office of the Inspector General has been investigating the FBI’s abuse of the FISA process in the Russia investigation that is expected to be completed in May or June, according to Attorney General William Barr.
Moreover, as Barr recently told Congress, the Department of Justice is reviewing the Russia investigation in 2016. Perhaps he will look into Team Clinton’s collusion with Ukrainian officials in 2016 as well.
“The pendulum is swinging. The boomerang is now headed right back to the top, the Deep State actors,” said Fox News’ Gregg Jarrett a couple of weeks ago. “They will all be held accountable. Mark my words: Criminal indictments are coming.”
Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani seemed to agree Wednesday night during an appearance on Fox News’ Ingraham Angle. The former New York mayor called Clinton’s comments regarding Mueller’s report “the most incredible act of hypocrisy” he’d ever seen.
“The woman basically voted to send 20 percent of our plutonium to Russia,” Giuliani pointed out, adding, “her crooked foundation got $150 million” from the Russians. “Her husband got a $2.5 million speaking fee … I don’t know, it kinda looks like bribery, it smells like bribery, it sounds like bribery … I’m not saying it is — but it comes awful close,” he said.
Giuliani also noted that Trump did not engage in obstructive acts — like destroying evidence — as Clinton did, nor was there an underlying crime for him to obstruct.
“He was found to be exonerated of collusion. That whole Russia thing turned out to be a hoax,” he said. “Her campaign played a role in promulgating that hoax. They paid 1.5 million for the phony Steele dossier. The only person who apparently has done business with the Russians is Hillary!” Giuliani exclaimed. “I think she’s going to be in for quite an extensive investigation and she doesn’t have Jim Comey to fix the case for her this time,” he added.
