Roy Wright, FEMA’s deputy associate administrator for insurance and mitigation, said at a press conference today that those who have been suffering in Hurricane Harvey’s path have been getting robocalls claiming they need to send their insurance companies extra money. He said these robocalls are “pure fraud.” He reminded everyone that “you should only be taking information from trusted sources.” But the idea that there are scammers taking advantage of the victims of a natural disaster by trying to get money out of them is unconscionable. Simply unbelievable.
