Obama's Own Secretary of Defense Says Failure to Uphold Red Line Showed 'Weakness'

Conservative pundits and politicians have been hounding President Obama for not upholding the red line he put down for the Assad regime in Syria. But when Obama’s own CIA director and secretary of Defense, Leon Panetta, says that it was a major failure, you know it’s serious. “I’ve always said that a president puts his credibility on the line with a red line, as President Obama did…. I think it is important, when presidents set red lines, when they say we will do something, you have to stand by your word. Otherwise it sends a message of weakness to the world.”
