Richard Murphy, the former U.S. ambassador to Syria, recently interviewed me for Book TV’s After Words program. The episode is scheduled to air this weekend on C-SPAN2 at 10:00 pm ET on Saturday, 9:00 pm and 11:00 pm on Sunday, and 3:00 am on Monday. I don’t know how it turned out, exactly, as I haven’t yet seen it, but I was there, naturally enough, for the taping, and I thought it went pretty well.
We taped the show in New York outside the C-SPAN bus at a book convention where hundreds of people were milling around, so it was a bit noisy. We had to yell slightly to hear each other a couple of times. Once in a while I couldn’t quite hear every word of his question, though you, the audience, should hear every word just fine since we were both microphoned. I’m slightly concerned that there may have been an instance or two when I could only understand three words out of five and therefore answered an approximation of his question, rather than his exact question, but it’s probably not a big deal.
