The world has always been full of fools. But thanks to social media, we now hear all of their bulls**t nonstop, around the clock. This constant exposure will ultimately cause society to crumble to pieces. It’s already happening.
Humanity is recreating the Tower of Babel, but this time we’re doing it digitally. Staying plugged into the world 24/7 represents nothing more than our sad, sorry attempt at omniscience—something we, as fallible and finite creatures, simply cannot handle. Only God is omniscient. Only He truly knows all things.
Look at the damage and violence erupting because everyone thinks they need a “global” view of events unfolding across the country and the world. That mindset is causing people to crack up, turn violent, and even get themselves killed by letting the media whip them into a frenzy and push them into stupid decisions. Just look at the nonsense unfolding in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Two left-wing agitators made the foolish choice to use physical force and assault Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, a decision that ultimately cost them their lives. Why?
They consumed false narratives pushed by Democrat leaders and mainstream media propagandists who fed them the lie that ICE officers resemble the Gestapo, the secret police Adolf Hitler deployed in Nazi Germany. These two individuals, along with millions of others, absorbed this lie repeatedly through social media, day after day. Add content creators and influencers who selectively edit information and actively spread misinformation, and you create a perfect recipe for unrest.
Huge swaths of the American population now fixate on events in Minnesota while ignoring serious problems in their own backyards. They pour all their attention into an isolated situation—most of the country has experienced ICE operations with protests and avoided the chaos Minneapolis faced—while neglecting their own broken and fractured family lives. What about the homeless in your town? Those battling drug addiction or crushing loneliness? People ignore these urgent issues in favor of a mainstream media narrative built from garbage, crafted to generate clicks and profit from fear.
People care very little about what happens in their own lives, neighborhoods, and communities. Instead, they latch onto causes that have nothing to do with them, then drag their twisted emotions back home and wreak havoc. If we focused more on self-improvement, personal holiness, and helping our closest neighbors, life would become simpler and real cultural change would follow.
I hate to break it to all the so-called “crusaders,” but posting profile pictures with Facebook frames or sharing memes about your favorite pet cause offers a pathetic substitute for real action. You’re not a hero. You’re a fraud chasing relevance, searching for meaning that never delivers the satisfaction or purpose you crave.
Imagine living as an example of Christ to your family, friends, coworkers, and others within your circle of influence. That kind of goodness would ripple outward and dwarf any supposed “good” you think you achieve through online virtue signaling.
Unplug from the false world of social media and start living your values in practical ways, surrendering everything to God. That’s where you’ll find your true purpose.
