The End of the DHS Shutdown Is in Sight – but, of Course, the Democrats Aren’t Helping

The shutdown of the Department of Homeland Security has gone on for way too long.

For the past several weeks, we’ve seen the Coast Guard minimized, FEMA brought to a grinding halt, and our nation’s airports seeing record traffic, due to the fact that TSA agents weren’t being paid the money they were due.

And why? Well, mainly Democrats, really. They were dragging their feet because they didn’t like how ICE agents were being funded, and still wanted answers for their “heinous” (their word, not mine) actions in Minneapolis that resulted in the death of two citizens.

Now I’ve already gone over that at great length, talking about how those citizens shouldn’t have been fighting against ICE. But the bigger focus here is this --  because Democrats were kicking and screaming to get their way, thousands of agents and other hard-working people were left without a paycheck. Doesn’t sound right, does it?

But, thankfully, President Donald Trump is working to make things right. His way. Even if the Democrats refuse to listen.

After the Democrats of the House remained stubborn with a presentation of a new Senate bill, Trump simply yelled the extent of “ENOUGH!” and came up with a plan of his own.

A plan was revealed that would end the shutdown of the DHS, providing full funding to all departments – including the TSA, which means airports across the nation would go back to normal, doing away with unfairly long lines and employees working themselves to the bone without a paycheck.

Over on Truth Social, Trump discussed this plan, explaining how Republicans would be able to pass a bill to fund ICE and Border Patrol agents through a three-year appropriations program – without Democrats getting in the way.

“We are going to work as fast, and as focused, as possible to replenish funding for our Border and ICE Agents, and the Radical Left Democrats won’t be able to stop us,” he said.

House Speaker Mike Johnson and Senate Majority Leader John Thune also spoke out in a joint statement about the agreement. “In the coming ways, Republicans in the Senate and House will be following through on the President’s directive by fully funding the entire Department of Homeland Security on two parallel tracks: through the appropriations process and through the reconciliations process.”

With the House and Senate currently away on Easter recess, it was clear that, if Trump didn’t do something, this shutdown would continue to unnecessarily drag on, with Democrats demanding better “immigration enforcement.”

Of course, the fight isn’t over. There’s still movement being made on some form of reconciliation bill, with a deadline to get the bill on Trump’s desk by June 1. That is, if everyone can get on board with the plan instead of making unnecessary demands. That’s a pretty big ask, considering the size of ego provided by these Democrats.

I’m just happy some forward movement is finally being made. I’ve seen stories of TSA employees that were worked so hard, they actually walked away from their jobs or consistently called in sick just to retain what little of their sanity they had left. All because these certain leaders wanted things done their way. They were more concerned about the rights of illegal immigrants rather than their own citizens, who they were supposed to be taking care of. Ridiculous.

But logic is finally winning over, and we’re taking the steps to putting the Department of Homeland Security – along with ICE and Border Patrol funding – back in business. I’m happy to see it, because we need these hard-working people to keep our country from falling to ruin at the hands of illegal immigrant criminals and gangs.

It would just be so much easier if everyone saw the bigger picture and what the Department truly stood for, rather than a certain few demanding it to be run their way. That’s not how law and order works, folks.

Anyway, I have nothing but gratitude for these hard-working folks, and can’t wait to see them get the money they deserve. About damn time.
