James Carville has been wrong about a lot of things, and I've spent years pointing it out. Donald Trump broke something in him. The man once regarded as one of the sharpest political minds in Democrat politics has spent the last several years proving he doesn't deserve that reputation anymore. He literally “guaranteed” Kamala Harris would beat Trump in 2024. He said it with total confidence, the kind that comes from a man who can't tell the difference between what he wants to be true and what actually is true. Kamala lost, and Carville ended up looking like exactly what he is: a partisan hack who traded his credibility for the comfort of his own bias.
That's why I’ve said nobody should take Carville seriously anymore. He isn’t a critical thinker anymore; he tells the left what it wants to hear. His job now is validation, not analysis.
So it's a little jarring when Carville actually says something Democrats should actually listen to, something they don’t want to hear. Whether they will is another question entirely, but hear me out. On his podcast, Politics War Room, Carville told fellow Democrats to stop fighting Voter ID laws and accept that the battle is over.

Despite being right about Voter ID, Carville still couldn't resist downplaying the problem Voter ID is meant to fix. "Voter fraud in the United States is an infinitesimal problem," Carville claimed. "I guess you could say it exists, anything could exist, it exists on such a minuscule scale, and it's been proven time and time and time again."
Even while making that claim, Carville turned around and told Democrats to give up the fight. He pointed to his home state of Louisiana, where voters already have to show a driver's license at the polls. A Louisiana rule that allows alternative documents, like a gas or electric bill, still polls at 75% support.
"We are not going to win the war against some kind of ID," Carville said. "It doesn't make any sense, it doesn't fix anything, but maybe you just go along with it and move to the next thing."
Now, I should say that Carville wasn't endorsing the SAVE America Act. He was pitching something narrower, like what they have in Louisiana. But, the point is, if Carville can see that Democrats are fighting a losing battle on Voter ID, that’s a big deal.

We've reported before at PJ Media on how well the SAVE America Act polls with the public, and Democrats haven't shown any sign of caring. I doubt they'll take Carville's advice and shout for a compromise. Establishment Democrats aren't fighting voter ID because they think fraud doesn't happen. They're fighting it because election integrity isn't in their political interest.
Carville wants you to believe fraud is too rare to matter. I don't buy it, and deep down, I don't think Democrat Party leaders buy it either. The reason they oppose Voter ID so aggressively isn't principle. It's that a system without safeguards benefits them more than one with them.
So unfortunately, even though Carville is actually giving them good advice, don’t expect Democrats to take it.
