Trump’s Backbone Is Exactly What the GOP Needed, And The Left Can’t Handle It

As the nation celebrated Independence Day, President Trump stands at the helm of a country roaring with renewed confidence and unmistakable momentum. The past two weeks have delivered a cascade of victories that would make any president envious, but for Trump, it’s just another chapter in his relentless drive to put America first.

But that’s not what the legacy media wants you to believe.

I couldn’t contain my laughter when I read an op-ed in The Hill called “Trump’s failures are turning Americans away from him.”

Yeah, it’s real.

The article reads like a wish list for Democrats, not a serious analysis of what’s actually happening in American politics. The author seems to believe that if you repeat the same tired talking points about Trump’s supposed “failures” and “harmful policies” often enough, reality will eventually bend to fit the narrative. Spoiler alert: it hasn’t, and it won’t.

Let’s start with the tired claim that Trump has “radically transformed the Republican Party” into a “cult of personality” that’s abandoned its principles. It’s the same lazy talking point we’ve heard since 2016—and it’s especially rich coming from a party that idolizes Barack Obama and spent years pretending Joe Biden was sharp as a tack.

The truth is, Trump didn’t hijack the GOP—he showed the GOP what it was like to have a Republican president with a backbone. Voters were tired of empty promises about small government and free trade that never seemed to benefit anyone outside the Beltway. Trump actually delivered on issues that matter to everyday Americans: border security, deregulation, energy independence, and a foreign policy that put America first. That’s not a cult; that’s called listening to your voters.

The article leans heavily on approval ratings. According to the author, Trump’s popularity “peaked” on Inauguration Day and then “went steadily downhill.” Funny how they conveniently ignore the fact that Trump’s approval numbers have always been a Rorschach test for the media’s mood, not a reflection of the country’s actual direction. Polls are snapshots, not prophecies. If polls were trustworthy, Kamala Harris would be president right now.

And then there’s the breathless handwringing over Trump’s “erratic, authoritarian and incompetent leadership.” This is just recycled rhetoric from the same pundits who insisted that enforcing immigration laws or standing up to China was somehow a threat to democracy. Meanwhile, Trump’s policies led to record-low unemployment, rising wages, declining inflation, and a booming stock market. If that’s what the left calls incompetence, maybe we need more of it.

The author also predicts that Trump’s “harmful policies” will drive voters into the arms of Democrats in 2026. This is pure fantasy. If anything, the last few years have proven that the American people are fed up with the left’s obsession over identity politics, runaway spending, and open borders. The so-called “right messaging” from Democrats is just more of the same: higher taxes, more regulations, and endless investigations into their political opponents. If that’s their winning strategy, good luck.

The piece tries to paint Trump’s foreign policy as reckless, citing a CNN poll about his decision to attack nuclear sites in Iran. Here’s the reality: Trump’s approach to foreign policy was clear-eyed and unapologetically pro-American. He brokered historic peace deals in the Middle East, kept adversaries such as Iran and North Korea in check, and didn’t start any new wars. Compare that to the endless quagmires of previous administrations, and it’s not hard to see why voters still trust Trump on national security.

We hear this kind of rhetoric from liberal pundits all the time. And this piece is a masterclass in projection. It accuses Trump of everything the left has been guilty of: ignoring the will of the people, pushing failed policies, and clinging to a narrative that just doesn’t match reality. The American people aren’t turning away from Trump—they’re turning away from the media echo chamber that refuses to learn from its mistakes. If the left keeps underestimating Trump and his supporters, they’re in for another rude awakening.
